Can fasting lead to eating disorder?
Well,
My friend did intermittent fasting during a festival season. She ate huge delicious meal in the evening. In the following morning and in the afternoon she kept herself completely off food. After doing this for two days, she found out that after each fasting she was getting so hungry that she was eating more than she originally intended to do. On top,she was suffering from guilt having eaten so much. Obviously she stopped fasting after this. So, I think lack of self control and guilt can lead to eating disorder if one is not particularly cautious after doing a fast.
What do you say?
Fasting is disciplined and is done with good health in mind.
However, eating disorder is compulsive, detrimental to health and has strong psychological reasons, distorted body image behind it.
Fasting when done properly does not lead to eating disorder.
When fasting is excessive, not keeping health in mind, then you can say it may be a reflection of an eating disorder.
