There are many reasons which makes smoking cessation difficult. First and foremost reason is NICOTINE. Nicotine present in cigarettes is an addictive drug and your body craves it as it has the power to relax you and calm jittery nerves. Your body becomes dependent on nicotine to stay calm and your brain thinks that you need it.

Secondly smoking is a powerful habit. The longer you smoke the more it becomes something you just do at certain points in the day. There’s a comfort in the act of doing it that has a psychological hold on the smoker.

Third reason is that gradually cigarettes and the act of smoking becomes an emotional experience. You know that if you are feeling put out, angry or frustrated a cigarette will help you calm down.

Nicotine is an additive drug, which causes unpleasant withdrawal symptoms when a person stops smoking. Smoking causes some changes in brain which makes the body crave for nicotine

A person feels good when when he smokes, and feels bad when he quits. This is the reason why it is so hard to quit smoking.
